We have an audible account in school. The books download to an aax file which require a password to play them afterwards.

Anyway to covert these to mp3 so teachers across  the school  can play them ?

You could try this Can VLC convert AAX to MP3?
Open the VLC player. Click on the Media button from the Toolbar, and select the Convert/Save button. Select the AAX file, and click on Convert/Save. Pick the output format as MP3.
