Surface on teachers desks
« on: September 14, 2022, 08:14:30 AM »
Anyone put the Surface onto teachers desks and removed their core desktop?   We are loosing 70 3010 comnputers soon and teachers having a Surface and a core desktop does not look to be the bets use of resources.

We have put surfaces in a lot of office locations and some of the classrooms. The desktops that were previously there were used to fill out a new computer room. Best use of resources for our situation, especially given that all our teachers have ipads for roaming anyways.

We put all of the surface pro's on the teachers desk.  Desktop removed from classrooms and added into offices to replace some of the devices that had to be removed and also increased the capacity of the ICT rooms.

Have kept a few at the moment as I wait for the sick notes to pile in.

Majority of staff using surface pro's, a few have laptops. No teaching staff have desktops in classrooms here. A few moaning about the small screen size on the surface, but when the 7010's are removed I will redeploy the monitors to teachers that ask

Aye, we did the same as well due to computers leaving the network soon. There was a bit of moaning but it died down pretty quickly! Think they just wanted to stick to what they knew but it's grand now. Biggest issue for us now though is the surfaces freezing when casting and inking.

we are removing teacher core machines and puitting the Surface on the teachers desk. We will use the monitors from the 3010 computer and use a Microsoft 1661 dock to allow 3 screens.
