Is there any confirmation on what will be done with the existing devices? Is there an option to keep?

Device Collection
Arrangements for the collection of the old teacher devices (HP Probook 450 and HP Pro x2 612), and in the case of primary schools the Dell Vostro 2520 laptops, will be provided after the Easter break.  Devices will be collected from schools that have received their allocation of new teacher devices.

Out of interest & probably already covered elsewhere that I can't find.

Has anyone tried wirelessly casting a MS Surface to an IMEX Vivitek panel?  I know the NovoTouch built in casting on those panels work perfectly for iPads, but I'd be keen to know if it works well with Surface devices?

We tried casting to a Vivitek Panel here, problem I encountered was that the two devices needed to be on the same network and the SPs wont connect to c2kwireless. The casting software on our panel was NovoConnect as well. Now that I'm writing this, I didnt try hotspotting my phone to see whether they'd connect. Away to try this. Not a solution for the entire school but curious to see if that works.

Worked with my phones hotspot. Not a solution for school use but the casting worked very well for me actually.

Thanks - I know on our ViviTek panels there is an option to create it's own Wi-fi network hotspot to allow casting so that may work.  Although I'm not 100% sure if that allows internet access though.

Sadly I dont think either the vivtek nor clevertouch panels will screen mirror from the surface because they wont be on the same network. They will either be thorugh the ethernet or c2kwireless and the surface are using c2kmanaged.

Unfortunately I dont think is a case of just getting them onto the same network but the same VPN in the network. So you would need the boards to join the C2k laptop (or surfsce if it is a different VPN) network. Otherwise you could try and see if you could force a surface onto the c2kwireless network rather than the c2kManagedN. If you can get the board on the c2kwireless as well then it might work but other network functions may stop working on the surface if you did that.

FAO Principal and C2k Managers

Work is well underway to allocate the new devices to teachers. It is important that those teachers who have taken receipt of their device familiarise themselves with their new Surface Pro as this will help when the programme of Teacher Professional Learning to accompany these devices is fully rolled out.  This programme is designed to help teachers to make the most of the devices to support their learning and teaching with further details on this to be provided in due course.  As a first step, teachers should familiarise themselves with the content of the Sway ? Getting to know your Surface Pro 7 +.

At some point in the future we plan to undertake an analysis of how teachers are using the devices to support learning and teaching.  This will support future teacher device procurement.
As you know, the device being provided is a Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Plus.  It is supplied with a keyboard, protective case and pen.  Microsoft Travel Adaptor Hubs will also be supplied to complement the use of the Surfaces. These will be delivered over the coming weeks to schools who already have received their new devices.

Further communication will be issued shortly to inform schools of the collection arrangements for the HP450 and HP612x2 devices with the courier representatives from Capita ( VYTA) contacting schools to arrange a suitable collection date.

We trust this information is helpful and we will be in further contact in due course.

Doesnt look like we'll get the option to keep this time. Personally I'm glad as they are dead slow and stop these days.

Slow but if the option was to retain was going to go down the ssd route and keep for another set of devices which is always handy

Think the hdd is the killer in most things to do with windows 10

That coupled with a shortage of RAM so the machine is constantly using the HDD as virtual ram - just running the OS with all the network extras added takes up most of the RAM.
