100% they wont last however if you asked me I would have pushed for these for a teaching device as its a best of both worlds with ipad/windows expereice etc and astylus for interactive board use.
Yes there will be staff that dont use them, wreck them or sent them to their sons/daughters uni but that would be the case regardless if they where handed an ipad, laptop of mfd. im more gutted they have used the same image as the last devices as they would have been great with stock windows and some form of vpn solution for c2k connectivity .

The only other gripe I do have thats been mentioned before is the cost of 1 vs how many other devices you could of had would have been nice.

Ours are due today so will see how they are once i get one to play with :)

all done for you.

They are exactly like the laptops.  Just power them on and let them sit for 2-5 mins and you will see them joined to the wifi.

We had a box of cases missing.  So make sure you do a quick count on the items just to be sure.

Sorry for the non-technical question here!  The schools who have received these devices so far, did your part-time, temporary teaching staff members receive a device?  Is it just Full-time permanent teaching staff who are eligible to receive one?

I am worried in case the powers that be consider these devices as an alternative to replace the aging laptops on teacher?s desks?  I don?t think these would be a viable alternative due to the fragile build and various components required to function properly on a teacher?s desk.

We have more part-time, temporary staff here than full-time staff so I am trying to calculate how many devices we would be entitled to?  Which I don?t think there would be enough to cover every desk location?

We did not receive a Surface for every staff member. In fact we have lost 2 from the original number. We have part time staff here so I assume they are not allocated a Surface. We have twenty laptops on teachers desks and if the Surface is not going to replace the old laptop then I don?t know what the plan is. I have ordered a port replicator @?150 for testing purposes and would need one for every Surface on a teachers desk.
