Hi.
Solidworks. The little brother of AutoCAD. I hear that the current version supplied by C2k (version 2011) is to be removed at the end of June.
It's going to be updated to version 2014. (all good so far you say).
The 2014 version is only being released in the 64bit format. Despite there being an EDU 32bit version, the powers that be have decided not to offer it.
I know that for some schools this won't be a problem, but two thirds of the computers in our Tech Dept are only 32bit.
Are there any other schools in the same position? I've heard that 60 schools haven't gone ahead with 2014 (for whatever reason) so hopefully if our numbers are large, we can put some pressure on them to deliver a 32bit package.
Alternatively, we might be able to strike a deal with Solidworks to get discount if we bulk bought a number of 32bit licenses.
Thanks.
