I need a monitor
« on: January 11, 2007, 11:47:43 AM »
I have just got a wireless hub installed at home which has spurred me on to finish building an old PC which I want to connect to the network.  The only thing is the monitor I have for it is older than I am (big lie - but its very old ).

Anyone out there willing to part with a monitor?  All I need from it is the ability to display 1024x786 (or higher).

I might have an old one. A NEC 20" LCD model LCD2010. It only really works well at one resolution 1024 x 768. (There doesnt seem to be a vertical high adjust although there is a width adjust on it). It runs through a vga to bnc connection lead, which I have as well. One of the good things about it is that you can rotate it 90 deg on it's stand and use the screen like an A4 page.

Thanks Gerard, but Stephen beat you to it!

I didn't know you worked in Discount Computers!  I bought my PC from you guys a few years back.  It had a AMD 3000 processor and a crappy fan on it that couldnt keep it cool enough :/

Once I replaced the fan, it worked fine though and I'm still using it as my main PC.

Thanks for the offer Gerard:)

lol

as much as i hate to admit it, the fans 95% of the time we usesd where supplied by AMD as it was a retail pack with the processor

but it wouldnt surprise me if it was some one just being stupid and using it

glad its running ok for you,

is it still under warrenty?  dont know if they continued the warrentys after they closed down

I am sure the warranty is well out of date - the PC is 3 years old now.  I had to upgrade the gfx card and add 512mb RAM to bring it up to 1Gb but otherwise its working well.  Sometimes it will not boot up after a reset and when you power off and on again it thinks its a xp1700 processor but once you load default cmos settings and then tweak it back to suit, it sorts itself out.

I guess it has 'character' :)
