Changing Forum
« on: December 22, 2006, 09:44:01 AM »
Over the Christmas break I'm going to change the forum. The look and of it will be different because I'm going to change to a different piece of software. The new software appears to have everything that is used in this forum built-in, wereas I've had to change code to get this forum to do what the other already has.

Anyway hopefully the transition will be painless - I've already changed over one of my other forums and after a few teething problems it seems to be working ok :)

Nothing should be lost. The one I've already converted doesn't seem to have lost anything, touch wood :) . Click the link in my signature and go to the forum to see it in action.

It looks very good Casper, I hope it lessens the headaches. ;D

Does this forum accept uploaded avatars? If so, what are the max pixel/file size?

Casper,

Very neat and tidy Forum area. I am slightly jealous. Extremely easy to use and very functional. I think C2K HELP will become very popular now so I hope you have plenty of SQL space!!!!

I think I preferred the old forum software. To be specific:

1 I miss the way forum sections that had new postings since one's last visit were in red, so I could quickly scan for new posts.

2 Within each section and in each thread, entries seemed to be more compact with less white space between entries in the old version.

3 Also I think more of the text (headings and stuff) was in black, or at least emboldened somehow. A lot of the text in the new version seems washed out.

- Just my 2cents

WHen there are new posts in a forum section the icon changes from a floppy disk to a CD
