Installing SIMS
« on: December 15, 2006, 10:06:07 AM »
This has got to be the most frustrating thing I have ever had to install.  I'm installing it on 30 workstations so staff can do their reports.  I allocated it to all machines, 20 worked, reallocated to the other 10, some picked it up, others didn't, now  some that originally worked don't and I'm getting three or four different errors on the machines that don't work.  Arrrrrgggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Bill, log it with the helpdesk.  Our SIMS has been a nightmare this term.  There are a few problem with machines picking up any updates amongst other really odd things, like Assessment causing error messages when teachers try to get into their marksheets.  All the errors seem random and don't appear on the same machine twice. 8)

I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realise that what you heard me say was not what I meant.

I know very little about SIMS but I do know it uses the .NET framework.  Maybe that has to be installed first???

Just a thought....

Given up.  I got 24 out of 30 working.  It's only going on temporarily so staff can do reports.  Same thing happened last year.  I couldn't be bothered ringing the helpdesk and giving them umpteen serial numbers/workstation numbers/error messages etc.

Have you tried to restore any of the stations that are not working?
While there is still a need for teachers, there will still be a need for us!
