rebuild problems
« on: September 07, 2006, 02:11:48 PM »
since i rebuild all the it rooms last week im getting nothing but problems, think that none of the rebuilds were successful for some reason

50% of the machines are prompting for the windows 98 disk ( which is shared on the server \\server\win98se\ )

but not picking it up - think this is to do with the installation of the printer drivers as soon as a user logs on

also when users open word documents its coming up windows installation

this feature is currently being installed - and then freezing

its on our 2.4 network btw and im kinda getting a sore head over it

any ideas as not one IT class has ran smoothly since they started back on tuesday   :(

Try logging on as Admin (if you aren't doing so already) for the printer problem and possibly deallocating or disabling RM File Protect.

I would also check to see if you have the 98 drivers installed on the server for the printers.  If it won't install the drivers for 98 on the server then you can use Application Wizard to create a package for the drivers on one of the workstations and allocate it to the rest.

Have you tried logging on as an administrator and opening Word on each of the machines with RM File Protect disabled?  I had a similar problem with excel a few years back - I think This is the RM Document refernce for the excel problem TEC105921.
