sims sql error
« on: December 02, 2010, 10:11:30 AM »
hi guys,

i recently had northgate come in and rebuild a laptop. Ever since the rebuild i havent been able to log into sims, i keep getting this error: -

"the type initializer for "system.data.sqlclient.sqlconnection" threw an exexption."

i have tried copying the connect.ini from the main SIMS folder on S drive, and have also tried to reinstall it various time but with no luck.  ???

any ideas?
cheers

Deallocate all SIMS modules
Restart machine
Allocate SIMS modules
Restart machine

Still not working?

In laptop .ini file change all SIMS modules to UPDATE_PENDING
Restart machine

Still not working?

My understanding is that the connect.ini file for sims should be different on the laptops than on the server.  I think on the laptops its content should be:

[SIMSConnection]
Redirect=S:\Sims

Then on the server it will have details of the server name and database name.

Try copying a connect.ini from a computer that SIMS is working on.

Seriously?  You guys would try all this?  I would just sit on my arse and phone 08706011666, option 2 (has anyone ever pressed option 1?)  Other things to be doing apart from fixing C2K problems.

Pressed option 1 about 5 years ago, never done it since.

i have a call sitting on the help desk since the 17 Nov and nobody has yet to come fix the problem.
I have logged a number of update calls and still they are being ignored.
