If your school website was designed by an outside company, are they Northern Ireland based - would you recommend them etc?  We are looking to outsource our own and have it completely redesigned over the summer holidays.

Who does your site at the minute? You could save yourselves a bucket full of money by doing it yourself. There are ready made solutions available and one of the best is Joomla - http://www.joomla.org. I've created a number of sites using it and it's fantastic, C2khelp being one of them.

Sorry Casper,

-- are you running joomla or mambo? And can you say why you picked one over the other?

Casper we do our site at the minute.  The problem is a complete lack of time, so we thought with our new Principal and new building on the way, why not a new website too.

Hi byte,

I'm currently using both - c2khelp was created using mambo (got that wrong in my last post) and any new sites I bring online I'm using Joomla. To be honest I don't know why (exactly) I prefer Joomla over mambo. It could be down to the presentation of the backend  (it looks prettier :) ) or that it seems to be back-ward compatiable with some of the mambo components that I have used. If Joomla wasn't available I would have no hesitation in sticking with mambo.

I have also used phpnuke in the past and thought it was really good until I discovered mambo. Then it was just blown out of the water. Mambo/Joomla is a great system if you want a quick and easy website setup and very low maintenance/update of it.
