« on: May 30, 2006, 04:06:15 PM »
i have had a few people coming to me with being asked for proxy creditindetials (think thats the spelling for the term)  when opening internet explorer on the managed side of the c2k machines?

any ideas...iv tried resetting profiles and this has worked a few of the times,,, also phoned helpdesk and requested a profile reset and this has also worked at times

but i still get one or 2 maybe 3 that this always seems to happen to   :?

Has their password expired between the time they have logged on and time they have tried to access the internet.

Get this occasionally as well. I normally just get them to log of and then log in again. This has more success than failure.

I don't think you're stupid, I think what you do is stupid.

Get this too.  Get them to log off and then reset profile etc.  If this doesn't work phone helpdesk.

Should we have a section in the forum for unresolved C2K problems.  I'll start with a couple.

1.  Proxy logon on managed side

2.  PC goes into constant loop on starting and requires restore of managed side - they need to sort this if they are going to allow us to install our own software.  Don't want to have to manually install our own software every time a restore is done.

3.  Kids losing printer credits when backup fails (don't know if anyone else has had this)

I'm sure there's more, but it's too early to think.

as for the pc going in to loop.... you will prop find that its the teachers not shutting down the machine properly.  happens here alot to but its usually 90% of the time the same machines. found this out by asking a teacher to turn a machine off the way she normally would with me watchin her *she logged off... and once she seen the logon screen it was the switch on the wall next...

but then again you know what xp is like at blue screening anyways

Yea I get a lot of the booting cycle PCs too, but I have never came across this proxy credentals business.  Isnt proxy a bad word though?  You really shouldnt be talking about such things here.
