Hi All,



We have an inset day coming up in a few weeks time and I've decided to give the teachers a refresher course on using the C2k network.  Although the system has been running for some time now I still have members of staff asking "what is the local mode" or "how do I change my password".



I want to grab a screen shot of the RM Boot Manager but the Print Screen won't work at this stage.  Apart from using a digital camera has anyone any thoughts on how else to do this.  Likewise for the Change my password screen.



Has anyone already been down this path of training the teaching staff, any ideas on basic topics to cover would be most welcome.

Using and managing the Learning Resources is always useful.  Some of our staff use this on a regular basis and have found it really helpful.  Others need persuasion - I usually point out about saving paper and photocopying to try to blackmail them into using it.  Big problem is getting them to remove them when they are finished.  You can end up with a lot of files that are only used once a year. 8)

It's great to train the 'academics'.  Computers terrify them.  Networks terrify them.  And they think actually working the computer is the job of the techie/support staff.  If you are really really lucky some actually end up thinking you are very very clever.



It's not often we get to wield some power over the punters. 8)

We had a power failure over the weekend and DC01 came back online with 1 HDD faulty, DC02 with 2 disks faulty. Finally got them sorted but you should have seen the look of horror on some faces because they thought they had lost all their work  :lol:  :lol:  :lol:



Training the staff is an on-going practise for me - very rarely can I get more than 2 of them together to go over something. To get more than 20 together in one room at the the one time would be heaven :)

Teachers are the worst of all possible classes/students.  They are the most demanding, disruptive, inattentive and downright stooooopid bunch of people you could possibly try to impart any knowledge to.



Never forget that teaching is classified as a "Fine Art"  ...................



the Fine Art of imparting knowledge without actually having any !

Ok, you do know about the thread in the General Discussion forum about whether it would be a good idea for teachers and maybe pupils to come on here?  :P

before i worked in the school i was doin pc repair/building systems for a small company... so try explaining a virus currupted your vital operating systems files never makes the punter who was just harmlessly browsing her hotmail account never makes them smile.........   basically keep it as simple as possible.....  we have 2 networks a legacy and the c2k ( to teachers it is known as the new computers or the old ones )  he he

We have a legacy LAN and i tend to find the teachers always ask, even tho they have been told several times before, that the software on the "New" computers is not available on the "OLD" computers!



Dos anyone else have this problem?
