Teachers timetables not showing
« on: March 06, 2008, 12:01:46 PM »
When a teacher logs into simms here their timetable should show up for that day, unfortunately this does not work for 3 of our teachers.

I have tried re applying the timetable, no luck there and

I have tried making the teacher inactive then reactivating the teacher and reapplying their groups, no luck there either.

It appears that there are 2 records for the teachers in question 1 record you can see in Focus -> Person -> manage classroom staff. The other record you can see if you do a search for staff and put in the teachers surname.

The record that shows up on log in is the one found in the search for staff. If you go to the staff record and click on the link on the right 'Classroom Staff Details' you can see that the staff code has a red background (i.e. that the code is already taken) and will show the name already registered to this code.

The only solution I can find would be to delete the records and start again but we have a call in with the helpdesk on this issue.

Anyone any ideas.

We had the same issue here when one of the C2k updates was applied.  In our case we had to go into the staff details for the relevant teacher.  Click on the "Classroom Staff' link on the right hand side of the screen and reapply the tick to 'Teacher'.  For some unexplained reason this had become unticked for about 6 members of staff.

Stephen, def call the help desk.  We've got a couple of teachers that this happens with.  If they've been put in twice change the initials of one of the entries by adding an x to the end of the existing initials.  You need to make sure you are making the 'wrong' on inactive, i.e. the one not linked to nova t. Then you have to import sims back into nova t and then restart a few times ??? ??? It's a total nightmare.  I ended up with someone from our c2k team coming down and ploughing through it.  It worked for a while but the last set of reports I did wouldn't show this guy as the class teacher - so I'm back to square one and waiting another visit.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realise that what you heard me say was not what I meant.

Yes, create a dummy code for the duplicate teacher record and untick them as a teacher.  Make sure the codes in Nova-T and SIMS .net match, transfer the timetable from Nova to SQL and re-apply the timetable in SIMS .net

I would suggest you make plenty of backups (in System Manager and Nova) however if you have a call logged, I would leave it to them to talk you through it/do it for you.  Also if you are a Lesson Monitor school, you should do all of this work outside of school hours to make sure no marks are lost.

PW has it right. You change the code on the duplicate to an unused dummy code then change the code on the proper teachers name etc as above.
