Is the Network Attached Storage device not the 2U high unit and the SIMS server the Dell tower (with racking kit)?

Because I can't see removable drives in the tower unit.

other way around. the 2U unit is the server and the tower is the NAS.
You should also have 2 USB external drives... to backup the NAS.

Yep Stephen, thats true.  Its probably as secure as anywhere else tbh.  As for air con, apparently we will get it in when we get our new school, but not before.

Got the new SIMMS server installed yesterday. It took about 3 hrs. Everything seems to be working fine apart from the fact no one has told us what to do with the usb external drives.

I suspest everyone else has been done by now.

There's a sheet on C2K exchange telling you about the backups.  You should get a printout each day telling you when it has backed up to the DAS device and then you swap them over.

We finally got ours done yesterday so this was the first morning of the drive rotation.  I didn't notice any printouts as yet but will log a call tomorrow if nothing has appeared by then

Don't have to do anything.  The office staff look after the rotation of the drives
