Hey dfinney, thanks for the reply, I took a macbook home with me regularly and it updates fine on my broadband connection at home plus the speed it updates at home is quick but when I go through the C2K internet connection it is very slow to download a 40mb update and when it does a message appears saying the device isn't connected to the internet, exactly the same with the iPad no bother with the iPad I took home downloaded and updated no problem but when I try in school these issues happen.
I contacted C2K and they inform me that it isn't their problem as they don't support Apple devices (which is fair enough) and I told them it was a update via the connection not an apple issue but they told me they couldn't support it or give me any advise and I've talked to a few other schools and their updates aren't affected so I have my thinking cap on and looking into the issue in house. Fingers crossed Ill solve it. Thanks,
