Is anyone else having a n issue with Sketchup? Staff can access it but pupils are restricted  :o

Galli

Yeah seemingly its an issue for all pupils at the minute.

Its a change in permissions that's essentially implemented almost like a parental consent issue in the admin console. The Implementation team are aware apparently and are figuring out how to deal with it

Happening with a lot of applications that use Google as a signin. If there's an option to signin using 'Microsoft' use it and signin with your @c2ken.net email address.

We are getting this issue with a lot of Google Extensions that we use for 3rd party companies as well.  It on the back of this.

Dear Colleague

This communication is to inform schools about changes that have been made to the use by students of third-party apps that are accessed via Google Workspace or with a Google for Education account.
Following the introduction of the Children's Code by the UK Information Commissioner, the way children access or use certain websites, apps, games or online products has changed.  The Code is designed to provide more protection to children online and to make the internet a safer place for children to learn, explore and play.  As a result of the Code, online services need to follow a set of standards when using children's data.  Websites and products affected by the code need to provide additional layers of protection for children's data.  For example, this might involve restricting or removing certain features to children if they're under 18.  Further information on the Code is available on the Information Commissioners website and can be found here.
In response to this, Google have implemented an age-based restriction policy and are in the process of changing their access control settings to third party apps, such as extensions and add-ons.  C2K are working to establish a list of permitted third-party apps which will be available to all schools and pupils as standard.  In the interim, the changes to Google's access control settings may result in pupils being unable to access a third-party app to which they previously had unlimited access.  Staff access to services is unaffected.
Further C2K Support
Further information will be issued to schools as soon as it is available.  In the interim, please contact the C2k Service Desk on 08000 931 541 if you have any questions or encounter any issues.  Calls can also be logged via the Service Manager portal in My Apps

Yeah we were hit with this a few weeks ago with our own google apps account.

We had to go in and authorise third party authentication(SSO) for a load of apps again.

A few apps like quizziz or Quizlet(cant remember which one) now require parental email addresses to entered and setup before the pupils can use the app again.

The pupils need to do this at sign in before it will work.
