If you haven't done so already, pop an SSD drive in the laptop and keep the old incase you need to send it back to c2k at some point.

There is a pretty decent speed boost doing this.

We have used these drives, the odd time you will need to get c2k to rebuild the machine.

On the newer laptops you have to disable IPV6 on the Wifi card.  It helps improve speed performance.  For us outlook and sims would hang (not responding message every 30 seconds).

If they get pulse installed working then warn them not to expect all services to work straight away. It takes about 5 or 10 minutes for the all n drive folders shared drive and sims drive to show up (even with a good Internet connection) For example starting sims will throw database connection errors for first 5 minutes until the SIMS s: drive gets synced.

Just the "pulse secure" software needs to be installed. First time I set it up I could not install it when connected to the c2k managed network.  It had to be installed from a non-c2k internet connection.  Also, to work well the disk usage for offline files had to be increased in the sync center. The sync center disk usage is not part of the helpsheet. When I set it up again on another laptop I had the same issues with disk usage needing to increased and having to use a non-c2k network to install the pulse software.  One laptop I tried would not work on a non managed connection at all.  It just kept freezing. I couldn't even get the pulse software installed. It worked fine on the managed network, so the solution was to use a different laptop.

Don't think the user needs to do anything - except maybe login at school first.

The permission is attached to the userid, not the machine.

It can take a few days from your principal making the request until C2K action it (it gets reviewed at your local C2K centre)

General Discussion / Full VPN access - Transfer?

Hi.

Looking for a bit of help understanding this setup of Full VPN access that some staff have.

If I have a staff member who has been given Full VPN access, do they then need C@rpita to do something else on the Managed laptop they'll use to access their workstation from home?
Also, (and the answer to the first part will answer this one)... if the staff member changes laptop, do they need to have something done to transfer access from Laptop A to Laptop B?

TIA   ;D

I put them on both floors but tried to space them out by putting them in the corridors between rooms. To do this I ran a network lead from the datapoint up the wall thru the ceilings to where I placed the meru - normally using datapoints in resource areas (used to be known as stores!)

This was a bit more annoying to do in the upper floor of the school due to heat insulation. It also was not possible to do everywhere I wished due to differences in the building. I have included my ground floor map to illustrate.

I'd get rid of Crapita in 1 fell swoop :)

I can only imagine the amount of sales calls they will now get...

At least when I get them I can tell them unless they are on the EA tender we can't deal with them :)
