Hi.

Has anyone noticed the huge shifting of the goalposts in that E N 1 5 9 document?  Option 1 and 2 was only for HP5800 stations in January, and now it's for any Win7 station.  From 1st April they're removing them from the network.  Initially I thought it was an April Fools joke, but then remembered that neither body has a sense of humour.
 
Anyone losing computers as a result of what appears to be nothing more than a money grab move by Cr@pita for 8 months?

Losing out big here, think we've something like 130 workstations which are all DC5800's. Have been pestering the boss who has now informed me that she'll have to take it to BOG next week to get approval to keep these.


 Still no idea what we're going to do come January when the AV licence expires.

We're facing a similar number with about a third being 5800's and the rest a mix of 755/760... but a fair amount are all on Teacher desks at the front of classrooms.

Had Crap1ta sit with me and the Principal before Christmas and tell us that only the 5800's would be Option 1 or 2 and that everything else would remain on the network until Jan 2020 without any issue.  We thought we had time to reorganise but they've just changed their mind and to hell with how it impacts on schools.  The fact they've chosen April when it'll be crazy coursework season before the exams just shows they have no consideration for the academic year.

It's another sneaky amendment like the one they made at 4:30ish on the 29th June last year whenever nobody would see it.  Don't deserve a contract extension. Here's hoping for something better in 2021!

Yes. Core machines were only enough to replace in our ICT suites.

I would imagine that the school would need to restructure IT. We ended up removing trolleys and taking the laptops to put on Teacher desks. We also cut back on computers for 6th form and anywhere else we could find. Don't forget that putting the new windows 10 desktops on Teachers desks usually means video issues with projectors and you will need video adapters as the spitter box will be no use. VGA to display port seemed the better option or I ran in new hdmi cables from the projector to the computer.

Thanks for the reply.  We're at the same point, looking at where we can cut computers that aren't essential.  It may cause some timetabling headaches, but it's got to that stage.

I've put a couple of the Win10 stations on Teacher desks and been lucky enough to be able to use an unbranded HDMI to VGA converter.  It causes the screen to border down the sides when duplicating the screen, but it's the trade off for getting a new computer.  Don't have the luxury of HDMI projectors here, lol.  1 headache at a time please
