RM Easylink Certificate
« on: November 24, 2006, 04:28:25 PM »
Hi!  The school has still the RM Connect 2.4 legacy system.  I had problems accessing the My Document (C2K) Easylink i.e. I clicked on My Documents nothing appears.  I got a solution from C2K Helpdesk with regards to downloading certificate.  They emailed me the certificate and I did some modifications in RM Internet Option setup (Inetopts) (c2.4) e.g. in advanced option Exception part

"Do not use proxy server addresses beginning with:"

I installed the certificate that C2K give me and also made a internet shortcut to Rm Easylink e.g. 10.171...  I load up the website and I am able to key in my c2k username and password and then click on My Document and all my C2K documents appears which is brilliant.

The only problem I have now is when I log off and run rm easylink internet shortcut it does not load up my document.

I notice the certificate just disappears.  I install it again and works fine.  It is extremely annoying that I have run the certificate every time i want to use rm easylink.  I want the students to be able to use this facility as when they are working had home on their coursework they can transfer everything on to the legacy system.  You don't need to use USB pens.

My question is why does the Certificate disappears after I log off the legacy system?  How do a recify this problem?  I don't want to install the certificate everytime I want to go into My document on the legacy system through RM Easylink.

I know this a long winded message.  It is not just this school who has this problem.

I check the forum on Monday as it is time to go home.

Cheers

How did you install the Easylink certificate?  Did you create a package in Application Wizard or did you install it manually on each machine?

I installed manually on one machine to test it but it didn't keep the certificate.  Then I created a package and it did the same.  C2K Helpdesk said it is not a package based i.e. it is similarly to a register file and you don't make packages out a register file.  The certificate was emailed to me from C2K Support Helpdesk.  You run it and it stores in the Internet Options, click on Content and you see an icon for Certificates.  There are other certificates there but the C2K easylink certificate which stay there until you log off.  When you log on and check to see if the certificate is still there it is gone.

I have this working but can't for the life of me remember exactly how I fixed it.  I think it had something to do with going into Desktop Manager and logging on with each desktop used and installing the certificate there.

Open Desktop Manager, open the desktop you want to add it to, it'll ask you to log in with the Deskman account.  There is a default password if you haven't changed it.  Log in as Deskman, have the certificate file on a floppy disk.  Install it.  Update all these users desktops and test.

Hope this helps.  If not let me know.

Yes, that seems to have worked.  Thanks for your help.  Greatly appreciate it.
