What was your time like in 1990.  I am 37 and have been running for 2 years now. Used to play football before a bad back injury and after surgery and a long lay off I took up running to lose some weight and caught the bug.

Good time.  Do you do any running now or are you just doing the relay without any real training.  With that time in 1990 you must have been in good shape.

Any other sporting technicians out there.

Did alot of training for that one, but I was also playing alot of squash and indoor soccer. Unfortunately once I got married (13 years ago) that all went to pot :( I'm currently just running 5k a day on the tread mill in the gym over my lunch break - I know it's not real running but it's better than nothing. Hoping to get back to the road running this week.

I couldn't even run 5K on a tread mill yet.... :(

I have been working on running around Craigavon Lakes twice which is roughly 6 miles all together. If I can complete 2 laps, I will be ready for the Marathon (the relay, not the whole thing!).

I started off barely being able to walk around it and now I can run half way round without stopping so, while there is progress being made, I am still some way off - working hard at it though!

I used to play squash, go to the gym, play football etc too before I got married.  Strange......

I think the  moral of the story is, if you want to stay fit, don't get married.

I'm working on time on the treadmill at the minute. I have the following times

1.6k (1 mile) - 5 mins 28 seconds (fastest the treadmill will go)

5k - 18 mins 20 seconds - hope to be able to do a sub 18 mins time by the end of next week :)

All my training done now and I am really looking forward to Monday.  A bit nervous and my two sons have been off school with a bug(vomiting), so I hope I can avoid this or I will be very disappointed if it affects my run or means I can't do it after all the hard work.

Hope the rest of you are in good shape and run well on the day.

Did you receive any notification that your entry was received? I still haven't recieved any word yet and the cheque that I sent hasn't been cashed. This isn't looking good :(
