  • What ? Replace my quill with a what ? ! BAH !!
Firefox
« on: June 18, 2006, 01:12:13 PM »
After reading about the portable version of Firefox, I decided to install Firefox as my default browser.  I've been meaning to try it out for ages, just never got around to it.

Amazing !  I'm still using a dial-up connection and  I know there are lots of other benefits but the difference in speed is just startling.

Thanks guys, for giving me the kick in the ass I needed.   :)

You can't use Firefox for the school access :( It's IE only I'm afraid.

Download the internet explorer tab 1.0.9.5 extension into firefox, just goto tools - extensions and find more extensions. Search for internet explorer and install the internet explorer tab extension into firefox.

After installation under tools you will find an ie tabs section, add into this the web address of any pages that require internet explorer to open e.g. www.c2kni.net/c2k_easylink.aspx

Whenever you hit the page it should seamlessly open a explorer tab within firefox. Alternately just wait until you hit a page that doesnt work and goto the ie tabs in tools and the current web page will be sitting waiting for you to add.

Of course you cant download extensions on the c2k network which is why I use the portable firefox program (portableapps.com).

Any entensions I need I add at home onto the version on my usb key then I copy the whole lot into my c2k workstation.

If you do get it running on the c2k system that extension will allow you to run the management console. Any probs in the c2k system give me a shout and I'll tell you how I got it running on my workstation.
