Updating E500
« on: June 06, 2006, 02:54:42 PM »
I've just allocated some additional packages to an E500 laptop. When it's turned on it recognises that there are updates for it. But the problem is that it does the following:

Displays 'Removing Set Environment' (with a progress bar)

Then it displays 'Finalising'

Then it reboots and does the same thing all over again.

Anyone had a similiar problem and a solution?

I don't think you're stupid, I think what you do is stupid.

Never had that problem, you could try phoning the helpdesk and reporting a software fault.
One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.

Got it sorted. When it asked if I wanted to apply the updates I said no and then shut it down completely. When I started it back up it started to install the updates and everything seems to be fine :)

I had the same thing.  I guess I was a little more patient than you as I just let it run.  Eventually it brings itself up to date.
