Rebuilding stations?
« on: June 02, 2006, 11:48:20 AM »
Did I hear right that they are going to be rebuilding all the stations from scratch and backing them up over the summer? We had some stations here that were just built, but not backed up, which meant when they went into a loop we had to get them rebuilt. Does this mean that I will have to bring in all the laptops too?
While there is still a need for teachers, there will still be a need for us!

If they are doing a SP2 install (and I think they are) every station will have to be rebuilt (with no local side).

Expect to be kept busy over the summer.

Yes was told the roll out for SP2 is to commence in the summer.  However cannot see all schools being completed over July and August.  So I expect that this will be ongoing in the autumn months of a rota based on the school DENI.  Cannot see the rebuilding creating more work us as Northgate are the only ones permitted to rebuild workstations and laptops.  We here have over 250 workstations plus 50 laptops

The extra hassle will come from the endless line of staff and pupils moaning about stuff not working and having to check the fault before phoning the helpdesk. On top of the normal scramble at the start of a school year with new users, passwords etc and the fact that once again you havent won the lottery wont make for happy days.
One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.
