Who knows, I just tell them there's nothing can be done about it and to go and buy a USB drive.  Lost track of the number of hours trying to retrieve files from disks of kids and staff who don't have a backup copy of their files saved on a hard drive somewhere.  Morons.

Someone mentioned to me that it may be dirty drives as they are hardly used, I think it is more like cheap dirt. However if you read the thread in this section titled Moved: Easylink local mode, Si puts a link up for a program called PC Inspector File Recovery, I have used this a couple of times and it hasnt failed to recover the files on a floppy that the C2K system has corrupted.

I've got that a few times.

I think it's mainly due to people putting untold amount fo floppy disks into the drives which no doubt have been stuck into their home PC, their mate's PC and used a coaster - you name it. In my opinion AOL promo CDs are better coasters anyway.
