Title: 2 networks

Just wondering if many of you are still running a separate legacy network? If so do you have many problems with users working on the two or do you restrict the users to one or the other but not both?

We use both the C2K network and a Legacy network. Our users can log on to either network without any problems.  8)

Yea we have the same. It's no real problem until it comes to moving work from one network to the other. Students sometimes have to use the two networks in the course of their day and sometimes want to copy files across. I'm trying to encourgae them to use the easylink (via the web) from the legacy system but it's falling on deaf eyes :(

What systems is your legacy network running. We're currently still in the dark ages with NT4 servers and Win98 clients.

We have a peer to peer legacy network with a mixture of Windows 2000 and windows XP computers. Our students use easylink both from our legacy machines and at home, so far no problems reported to me.

We have two main computer rooms, both running the C2K systems, and we have one room that runs the Legacy systems thats up at the technology rooms. Everyone mainly uses the C2K systems, except for the Business Studies students who use the Sage program, which is only on the Legacy system and some of the teachers who have the older machines in their rooms.

First Post to this site a useful resource much needed as C2K tend to treat us like mushrooms (Keep in dark and cover with Bull****.)

2 Networks

We have the legacy computers scattered about the School. Last year updated to Win2000 server and XP or win2000 on older pcs. This summer hoping to go to Win2003 we use the same login as C2k but the passwords give the pupils the most problem with C2k changing theirs every 120 days. The legacy network passwords can stay the same or the pupils are able to change them, but most dont bother so they end up using the wrong password.

Has anyone found a way around this.

we also have 2 networks.

the 2nd being rm conect 2.4 with 98 on all the machines.

the legacy network is about 40% of the schools population of machines. with the other 60% being c2k

i for one cannot wait until they get updated, its long over due and will be a costly operation as all legacy machines are so old they have to be changed aswell as the servers

we have two room with 22 legacy machines in them and two legacy network printers.  Platform windows 98 and NT4 server.  I can't see us be allowed to update the legacy network because of the c2k machines.

we were having problems with memory for the likes of dreamweaver and Photoshop.  the machines are slow but again no restricitions.

we have a legacy network of 170 XP stations on 3 (Win2003) servers. Will be adding 80 - 100 more stations this summer.
