Anyone retaining any devices after 20th February close down of some devices for some schools?

We have an order in to replace these.
From what i knew they were staying until june 30th ?
There is meant to be a session regarding this online. My system analyst called me a while ago to mention this and would be in touch regarding it.

Just to check - is it only old C2K equipment they are collecting?
Wonder if that would include old TLP Dell 630 laptops lol!!!
-
Thats great news as I've made preliminary contact with them to uplift our old stuff once i've counted them all up :)
-
they will take anything that was used on the c2k network at any point. I still have some old windows 7 machines. The have a list of stuff they can take.

Was about to organise an Avenue recycling collection so this is ideal!
Any chance you could PM me the list please? Thanks
-
SAME PLEASE
-
Hi
i did not get a list but the person whi will contact you from VYTA will let your know whats on the list. If the device was evr used on the c2k network then it should be removed but no harm in asking about whatever you have.

It's such a nice feeling when you see the lorry leaving after a good clear out isn't it :)
-
Can you take this stuff to the local skip yourself?

Can you take this stuff to the local skip yourself?
Why would you bother with all that effort when collection is free and gives a certificate of destruction for the hard drives when that?s done.

Just had quite a shock when i opened the removal of devices excel sheet. On the list it had our Optiplex T1700's. This was never mentioned in any of the emails about what is being removed. Not happy!!!!!
-
Thye Optiplex T1700 computers were on the removal list back in September 2022

-
I was referred to information sheet EN159 on exchange which gives full list of all workstation models being removed
-
You are so right. Our principal is not going to be happy. We've just purchased 75 and now need to ask him for 21 more.
-
I also think they changed the list on EN159 over the year or two it has been up so if you worked from it when it originaly went up and never checked the list again you could be caught out, unfortunately I never kept a copy from the start to test this.
Then again it could be the mind going with age.
-
first email about removal of computers was around 28th August 2022 and then was follwed up by various emails. Search for implementation in your email and you should be able to find those emails uinless you deleted them

First email from August 26th:
Dear Colleague
We are writing to provide an update on the status of C2k-provided and school-purchased devices on the managed network. This update takes into account the manufacturer support status of a device in relation to updated versions of Windows 10 and the security status of older catalogue devices
Devices are in one of the following 4 categories.
Core Devices - Provided by C2k and fully managed until March 2024
School-purchased devices:
Category 1 ? Devices are fully managed until March 2024
Category 2 ? Devices may remain on the C2k Network but are not managed. It will be a school?s responsibility should any hardware fault arise.
Category 3 ? Devices have now fallen out of manufacture support for Windows 10 and as such are deemed a security risk and will be removed from the C2k Network from the 30th September 2022.
We have identified 2 models that have significant numbers that are in Category 3 and wish to highlight these to schools.
Dell Optiplex 3010 ? These desktops are the previous core primary school desktops which have been replaced from December 2020 with Optiplex 3080 desktops. At this time schools were informed that these devices were no longer managed and that a licence fee would be required to keep these devices on the network. Schools who retained these devices are liable for the cost to ethically dispose of them.
Dell Optiplex 7010 ? These desktops are catalogue purchases by schools. These devices are now beyond manufacture support and as such will be removed from the network. As school purchased, schools will be responsible for ethically disposing of these devices.
Further detail on the status of devices can be found in Information Sheet EN159 on C2k Exchange
Please note, there will be no option to retain Category 3 devices on the network.
Further communication will be issued with regards to disabling of devices in the coming weeks. If you have any queries please log a call to the C2k Service Desk on 0800 0931541
Regards
C2k Implementation
Just directing to EN159 no attachment so unless you'd saved a copy it's impossible to tell if there were alterations to the list from this
-
It would be interesting to see if our T1700's were originally on that list! We only purchased these in April 2016 @ over ?1000 each. I find it hard to believe these are at the end of their life! Its weird that their "Core" devices are ok though but catalogue purchases are not.
Anyone else think Capita is trying to pull the wool over our eyes?

C2k - End of Life Devices Webinar - Wednesday the 22nd of February 3.30 - 4.30pm

On Wednesday the 22th of February from 3:30pm to 4.30pm we plan to run a webinar to set out the plans to drop end of life devices from the C2k network. You have been invited to this webinar as your school will be impacted by this process.
Please note that we are approaching the removal of devices on a phased basis and therefore sharing this link with other schools will not be helpful.
At present the following devices at your school are due to drop off the C2k network
Old Devices
In C2k Exchange open MySchool in the top left corner and your devices to be removed will be in the spreadsheet in the folder called C2k Reports 2022-2023.
-
What was everyones take on yesterdays webinar?
-
I also think they changed the list on EN159 over the year or two it has been up so if you worked from it when it originaly went up and never checked the list again you could be caught out, unfortunately I never kept a copy from the start to test this.
Then again it could be the mind going with age.
I have attached a EN159 that I had saved back on 16.09.2022. I looks to have some changes to the EN159 that we can access today
-
Compared the two documents
The changes between the two are actually positive if anything and probably represent new models in the catalogue and a possible correction of an error if anything.
Latitude 3560, 3520, 3530, 5520, 5530
Optiplex 3050SFF, 3000, 5000,5090
Were all added to category 1
The optiplex 5040 was moved from category 2 to category 1
And the Latitude 3550 was moved from category 3 to category 2.
-
So the sheet en159 mentions 3020's but the original email did not.
-
The original email always referenced EN159. It just highlighted 2 models that were in high numbers in schools.
