We just log a call with Maintenance at EA and they send out a contractor
-
we had done it in house.
had a spark on staff. he is gone now.
So back to EA.

If its a couple of cables do it yourself. We do most things in house, saves a fortune.
The only time we would get a contractor in would be for a full room.
A box of CAT 5 is ?50 ish for over 300m, a punch tool is ?10, crimper is ?15, rj45 heads are ?12 for 100 and some push rods are ?10-?15. The only thing you need after that is time and a ladder.

And Is a ICT Technician insured to climb up a ladder. Building Supervisors will not go any higher than 3m
-
We are insured, you would just need to check with the board.

I don't mind throwing in a longer Cat 5 cable if the point is in the room.
However its not in my contract to track/install cables from Switch/Cab to another area in the building.
That's what board maintenance is for.
Guy in here done it for extra money.
If I did it they was try to add it on to my list of duties and get nothing for it.
Kind of learned this the hard way with all the other new duties I been given recently.
Have the board done away with T4 jobs in education. When trying to get updated version they say it doesn't exist.

i used to use RAMICK cabling but now i have to go through maintence at the board too -
I will only do tempory runs or fix broken datapoints
-
2nd vote for Ramick. Top guys and top quality work. They've done all the cabling for me and I've never had any issues.
