Anybody have this printer and had any problems with the formatter? We have 2 here. One giving problems that seemed to be from googling! classic known formatter board problem.
So I replaced the formatter with a new one. Didn't work.
Used the formatter from the working printer . Didn't work.
Put the new formatter in the working printer. Didn't work!
Put the formatter from the working one back into the working one. Worked.
Baffled.

Maybe its not a formatter problem? :)

Changing the formatter seems to have provoked a change in the IP address.
-
Has the MAC address changed? This would govern your ip addy on a network.
-
PM'd you on that subject
-
PM'd you back.
Ayy static IP assigned by my server works through MAC address- I am wondering is your Addy's getting mixed - if so and your machines point to a specific IP for a specific printer you could have bother.
Print out the network configuration sheet on the printer and check it's ip address. It should be the same on the network.
Start -> Devices and Printers. Right hand click on the printer in question and select printer properties from the list. Click on the Ports Tab and if you stretch out the ports column you will see the network static IP for your Printer.
If this is different from your printer configuration sheet you could try a manual configuration of the printer, just get a working printers config sheet for to enter the correct subnet etc.
I am sure you knew all of that but I decided to type it for those who didn't.

Didn't know anything about formatters. Still don't. But it does seem to change the MAC address of the printer when its installed. Stephen seems to be right again!
-
The problem with these 2015s is they don't have a display to change the settings. Will just have to call the beast.
-
You should be able to talk to the printer thru it's IP address which you will have on the configuration printout. As long as c2k didn't password the web interface. Also check all the other setting on the config printout with one that works. Subnet mask, dhcp and that it is the same IP as the server thinks it should be - From the Port in printer properties.
-
Right again Stephen! ;D
Thanks.

have you tried resetting the printer? or the oven board trick used for jet direct cards?
could be the formatter board is faulty but hit and miss with the broken solder making/breaking connections as you pull it from one device to another
to reset turn printer off, hold down green/go button for approx 5 secs then release it
