I switched machines to the software update service on the xserve. However I have noticed that not all updates go thru this service. For the past week or two there has been a software update for mountain lion 10.8.5 but it has not registered on any of the machines that do not go to apple.
I have the service set to all updates (which are stored on a share on the RAID). I went apple -> software up date on my machine, app store reported no updates. I then removed my machine from the group of machines that recieve updates from the local server, rebooted it and went apple -> software update and in the app store it found 2 updates, one of which was OSX Mountain Lion Update 10.8.5.
I manually downloaded the update to fire out to the remaining machines (using remote desktop).
This is not a satisfactory fix, does anyone know how to get software update to do all updates?
