Title: Mail for Mac
Post by: PaulB on August 14, 2013, 09:03:37 PM
I have already joined my iPad to the C2Kni email exchange server and it works well bringing in the calendar and contacts.

Now I want to have the same connection using a MacBook Pro and mail.  However, I am unable to repeat the success and the message is that the exchange server cannot be connected. Unlike the iPad setup there is nowhere to put in the domain. I have tried the same setup as my Blackberry using school\username approach.

Can anyone help/

It is strange that the iPad allows complete access to C2K mail with contacts and calendar and the computer based version is barred despite using the same details.

I know, I can access C2K email from the iPad or my own iPhone. I'm a Mac technician and would ideally like to access contacts and emails via Outlook or the Mail app instead of OWA which is a nightmare to use most of the time. Did anyone figure out a way to get this working?

Microsoft Entourage (Office 2008) works on my mac.

I had Entourage working on my eMac a few years ago, then moved account details over to my iMac. It had been working fine until May time when it suddenly stopped working last year. Since then I've been unable to reconfigure it or use any of the native new clients. If you don't mind could you pop up some of the exchange settings required? I'll give it another go with Office 2008. Thanks!

Ok in account settings
Account name - whatever you want
E-mail address - I used the full school email addy rather than the shorter @c2kni.net - I think this is important on a mac!
Account ID I used my username
Domain I used SCHOOL
Password is a bit obvious
Exchange server I used mail1.learningni.net
I ticked This DAV service requires a secure connection (SSL)
I did not tick port override

Options Tab
All I had on was receive complete messages

That appears to be it I havent done anything else in any of the other tabs.

Stephen that worked a treat. Thank you. Just a pity Outlook 2011 doesn't support OWA.

Unfortunately there's not a lot of email clients that will work with ES2003 nowadays. It's scary to think C2K are working with 10 year old technology.

Wee question for you, did you ever encounter a problem with certificates in Entourage? It's just flagged up an error message stating "Unable to establish a secure connection to mail1.learningni.net because the correct root certificate is not installed". At the minute my emails are on-hold and any solutions I've found online require me to create a certificate on the server.
