Title: Indesign problems
Post by: Si on March 21, 2012, 11:42:24 AM
Our Art teacher is having issues with Indesign on her powerbook (or whatever you call them).  She is in charge of making the school magazine and gets most of her material in Word format - she has Word on her powerbook which opens the files fine.  When copying text/tables etc and pasting however, Indesign converts the text/tables into an image which can then no longer be edited.  Anyone know how to fix this?

I agree Bill, but unfortunately this isn't an option this time. :/

Never used the package so dont know but I would assume it maybe that she is pasting in when she is using a graphics tool rather than a text tool - just a suggestion to look at.

It's an idea Stephen, worth a try. :)

Does it not give the option to 'Paste Special', giving you a choice to post as unformatted text, image, html etc?

No nothing like that Casper..

I found a work-around - if I open the documents in Pages (instead of Word) it pastes them across just fine.  The Art teacher is delighted with my discovery so lots of brownie points heading my way. :)

Worried about the Macheads on the forum not answering - I guess its a bug that no-one knows how to fix (judging by my googling anyways). Apple - it just works.  lol.
