Title: MAC connecting to network
Post by: colerainehigh on December 16, 2011, 01:01:26 PM
Hi,  over a year ago we connected some new MACS to the network using proxy4 and all has been working fine but they will now no longer connect to the Internet.  I don't know whether or not to involve C2K as we didn't involve them at the start and I don't know if what we are doing is allowed or not.

Well, we have machines here that connect via proxy4 too so guilty as charged...how do they connect to proxy4 though? What gives the evil Apple machines their IP address?  Its probably there you'll find the problem.

Probably thru an xserve if they have one. On my system once you connect the xserve as a network account server it sets up the proxy thru the server.

We had to give our Macs a static ip address last week the dhcp server used to work, but I wonder had SNAC raised its ugly head  :(

So try using a static ip if you need the DNS settings PM me and I will send them to you  ;D

PS we have used Proxy 4 here for about 5 years in the Art Dept  ;D
