i created an image with 07/10 office installed it was allot easier that way for deployment we purchased licenses for every machine so i just made sure the image had the office install on it. WDS works a treat for deployment espically with these installed some of my images are showing as up to 8GB buy across the network i can have a workstation fully built and working within 30mins or less.

just make sure if you are adding the office image to include the service pack update for office i found that there were issues with office without the service pack update some crashing and other silly issues but these were all sorted once i had applied the service pack.

Also make sure that you have in your image for windows to have client side extensions i found that when i thought i already had this installed it wasnt and it meant that my GPO's werent working properly so make sure that you have that installed.

i think you can use software deployment with server 2008 to deploy office 2007 but i never tried this just incase there was issues with the install also didnt want that pass over my network thought it would have been very slow.

i havent tried doing that here because i found it allot easier to add the install to my deploy image although it did increase the size of the image when it came to deploying i had no problems it was allot easier i found to just include the install on the image

although that does read well it still runs a startup script to begin the install on the workstation and i would find that the office install because it is so big can have problems espically if you try to install this along side other programs like flash, shockwave, adobe reader i just always find the likes of office to install this either manually or in an image instead of over the network.

also remember that with sever 2008 and windows 7 that anytime you run command you need to right click and run as Administrator even if you are logged in as an Admin its still not a full Administrator account always remember to right click cmd and run as administrator
