Did anyone else go to the Airshow over the weekend past?
I was down in the 'van and managed to watch most of it. The real highlight for me was the Typhoon - what an amazing plane! The sheer sound of the thing was just fantastic, but the agility of it was staggering to watch first hand.
The Harrier was pretty impressive too, as was the four man aerobatic display team (sry I can't remember their names). The Utterly Butterly team were pretty good too although I still can't understand why someone would want to be strapped to the top of a flying plane :)
The only thing wrong with the weekend was trying to get home on Sunday evening. Total grid-lock in Portrush :(
It took me 3 hrs to get home to Craigavon.
Oh and having to queue for 20 mins just to get a bloody ice cream.........
-
I took a run up with a few friends and had a good time except we didn't see the euorfighter, harrier or helicopter display team :(
When were they on on sat? Supposed to be about 4 and 5 and we sat around from before 4 till after 5:30 and the only thing on was the messerschmit (can't spell:) ) and a helicopter in that time. We were about most of the day before that too, the hawk (I think it was, not a prop plane anyway) was about the best we saw and the plane display team.
-
The eurofighter and the harrier didnt appear on Saturday at all, they were only on display on Sunday. I never seen the helicopter display team either :(
Sunday was the best day since a lot of the planes failing to turn up on Sat due to the bad weather.

Yep, point and click :)
I probably had a 1 good - 10 bad shot ratio. When I say bad, I mean bad - out of focus, over exposed, bad composition etc. I even have a few shots of walls and peoples heads :)
Total grid-lock in Portrush
Tell me about it. We moved 10ft in one hour, and we were still in the car park :(

The weather was fine for most of saturday :(
I nearly drove back up on Sunday but couldn't be annoyed in case it happened again...

@casper No Portrush AIr Show this year. Council has a near ?70 million hole in its finances
-
Yea I saw that. To be honest it's been a few years since I last went to it.
-
It's a shame - I know it costs the council a 1/4 millon, but it's a drop in the ocean though compared to their massive debt!
I always look forward to it, and when possible I tried to go to both days, but you could tell funding was starting to become an issue over the past few years - they weren't attracting anything different.
Looking forward to Newcastle one this year, and if possible try to get to either Bray or Birr to see them too.
-
Ayr airshow has now also been cancelled after the council pulled the funding. In June I hope to get to Newcastle and going to Riat for the first time and back to Duxford in May its a shame about Portrush as i'm only across the way in Portstewart.
-
You'll enjoy RIAT, that's a real show :) Haven't been in a few years but hoping to get back in the future.
