y not buy the laptop from somewhere else and just pay to get it converted over to c2k...its bound to work out cheaper
-
Note the Operating system updates (only about 2 years after microsoft post them)
-
Yeah, I thought it would just be handy to get it from Northgate.
Any suggestions as to good suppliers ?
-
PC world business they have some cheap ones these days
also worth checking out misco
-
But you may find that Northgate will say 'Oh sorry but that's not compatiable with the system' - does it not have to have a certain network card for them to build it properly?
-
I wouldn't even have it converted over to C2k - just use EasyLink to access your work. We will never go down the C2k route for laptops again.
-
thats a question... i just thought that if they done it with the e500s etc there would be even less compatibility issues with new laptops
-
If you buy the laptop from elsewhere you'll need an extended warranty, office licence etc. - probably work out just as dear.
-
Thats the same laptop I currently use.
I can't complain, I had to work of a managed E500 before the Latitude, so as you can imagine its pure heaven in comparison.
The price is at least double what you would pay normally, but if you were going to buy Office and the other software included with the managed side, plus the extended warranty, I guess its not so bad.
Arrgh whats happening to me? Im defending Northgates pricing! I think I need to go and lie down somewhere cool......

We still have problems with Easylink .. not everybody can access their files from home tho' most (well the few who try) can access their email.
Guess you're right about buying elsewhere & having Northgate install managed side. They'd charge (large) it up. Seems mad to pay a grand for something with a celeron processor in it though.
Is our Northgate the same as this Northgate ?
