Title: internet connection at home dropping

guys i a have an internet connection at home , dialup through surfanytime.net,



im running xp pro with sp2 installed and norton 2005 firewall, but im dropping connection intermittely, every few minutes





what could be wrong?????

*length of your extension cable?



*if you have bt 1471 on your line this could cause problems



*theres a tick box in the settings of your internet connection somewhere about droping the line if idle for so long... cant really remember where abouts been that long since i used dial up sorry

You can also get problems if you have BTs answer phone service and you have messages.

no answermachine or any bt stuff.  just drops every now and again :x

Stop The Firewall and see if it still drops. If no difference call BT and ask them to check the line.



Similar thing happened to a friend of mine and it turned out to be a faulty line to his house.
