do you have acces to sims?
i dont and have never used it.
-
i've used it and i dont have the access
took part in a few training afternoons... its silly not given the ICT tech the access as we are the ones that everyone asks for help !
-
No access here. cant see why!
-
Don't complain about having no access - I'm the system manager (doing the CLASS Co ordinators job). Believe me, the more you know about it the more you get to do!!!!! 8)

I have no access and don't want it, this way I can stick with the "I've never used it, I have no idea" excuse :D

"I've never used it, I have no idea" excuse
Use this all the time too :)

Have often found that with software which you have never used before the teachers just stand over you watching and saying "So whats wrong with it?" even though you have just stated "I have never used it before". Why dont they just let ya get on with it? I dont stand over them when they are teaching!
-
I have never been trained on sims and do not use it however from time to time I have uninstalled and re-installed sims on workstations. This seems to cure most problems.
-
You have to remember that as a computer person teachers automatically think that you know ALL about EVERY piece of software ever invented. Best reply for them is "I'll have to investigate this - it'll probably take a very 8) long time"[/quote]
-
You must also remember that we techies work alone while teachers work in groups ...

you can never underestimate the idiocy of stupid people in large groups :-)

I have access to some elements of SIMS. I only use it to check pupils' or teachers' timetables or look up UPN numbers.
Looks pretty complicated and IMO has a very "unfriendly" user interface, so I'm happy enough to stay away from it.
-
Like wise I have never had any training on Simms. Had to deallocate and reallocate it a fwe time or allocate to new workstations. Can access it to make sure it works ie get the homepage up, but that's as far as it goes.

Yea SIMS looks like a horrible piece of software and I am glad I have no dealings with it. It IS true that teachers assume you know all about it though....infact they think I know everything there is to know about computers which can be quite embarrassing when they are teaching a class and then decide to add you into the lecture by asking you obscure questions.
The strange and scary thing is, I have been able to answer most of them...does this qualify me for a brand new anorak?
